End Of The Year Critique

surf

Photographer: Murray Mitchell

The photographer has a border of the ocean around the center of attention which is the surfer, the fact that the surfer is in the water is the border. The photographer does not have wasted space in his picture. The background (water) in this picture is the purpose for the center of attention. It adds reason to the picture and brings it all together. I think that the lighting in the picture is balanced pretty well because the waves do darken the ocean floor, but the light from the sky also lightens it also where the surfer is leaving to come back up after his dive. I love this photograph because I love surfing and the ocean. I think it’s an emotional shot because the surfer is doing what he loves. If I had the chance to take the same photograph such as this one, I would try to get under the surfer and get a shot of the whole scenario in motion.

The center of interest in this picture is the big wave about to crash down on the water.  The Photographer placed the wave in the middle of his lenses. The tip of the wave seems to be the attention also, and it is placed in the middle. I don’t think the photographer wasted any space because the wave needs to be in the whole picture and frame. The background adds to the picture because it shows whats going on, and that you need the whole wave in the frame to tell that the wave is about to crash. The technical work of this photograph is good to me, I wouldn’t change anything. I like how it is dark because it adds a suspense to it. I like this photograph because I like waves. I think it is an emotional shot because it is stormy and gloomy but the sky looks bright. I wouldn’t change anything about this photograph.

The center of interest in this photograph is the man leaning forward. The photographer placed him in the middle of the frame. The photographer was close enough to get the man leaning, and far away to get different lighting. The background adds to the photograph because it makes it seem gloomy and dark. The technical part of photograph is good, I like the lighting coming from the upper right corner. I like this photograph because it is different. I think it is an emotional shot because I feel like the man leaning is struggling. I wouldn’t take a picture like this honestly so I wouldn’t change anything about it.

The center of the photograph is the sun setting. The photographer got far enough away to see the ocean, and close enough to see the water on the rim. The background of this photo makes the photograph so if anything it adds to it. The technical work of this photograph is good lighting and lines. I like this photograph because sunsets are my favorite and I think this is pretty. I think it is a statement shot because its ending the day. I would try to get the water more if I had the chance to take this same photo.

The center of attention of this photograph is the Seal resting in the waves. The photographer placed it in the middle of the frame. The photographer got close enough to see the seal, and far away enough to see the waves, rocks, and sun in the background. The background adds to the photograph because it shows the environment and the seal. The technical work of this photo is really good, I like the lighting in the back by the sun, and how it gets dark on the left side. I like this photograph because I love animals and the ocean. I think it is an emotional shot because of the sunset. If I could take this photo I would more of the beach.
